Who we are
Ridge Runners is a 'Not-for-Profit' organisation set up by two Cardiff based trail runners, Mark and Elinor. We’re passionate about trail running, the trail community and supporting runners to enjoy distances from 5k to ultras.
We believe the best races are organised by runners, for runners, and should be sustainable and environmentally friendly. Our routes will always be scenic, diverse and rewarding and, as local runners, we want to show you our very favourite and best trails! We also want to protect and support our countryside so that the generations after us can enjoy these trails too.
It’s hard to balance hosting a high-quality race with being sustainable and environmentally friendly and, simply put, cannot be done when the main motive is profit. Proceeds will be re-invested into the communities and causes local to each race, as decided by our volunteers. As organisers of a local half and full marathon, we’ve already donated thousands to great causes.
We are inspired by great runners such as Scott Jurek, who stays to applaud every runner through the finish line, and Damian Hall, with his green agenda.
"We don't run in the countryside to do races, we do races to be in the countryside."
We are guided by principles to give you confidence of our commitments - you can see what makes us different here.
